Artist: Agatha, Album: Called It Off (Single), Song: Meet You On The Other Side

Here is an early 80's rock gem from Calgary, Alberta.  The band was called Agatha, and they released this single, Called It Off, in 1983.  The single's B-side though, is the real treat.  If you are a fan of early Rush, you should hear the similarity right off the top.  It is a really cool track called, Meet You On The Other Side.  I don't know much about these guys other than the lead singer, Rik Anthony, was in another Canadian metal band called, Breaker, a year prior.  That band had one EP the same year before breaking up.  I'm not sure if this particular single was ever followed by an album release.  Their discography is very hard to track down today and I happened upon a copy of this vinyl 45 by chance through Ebay.  This particular single was recorded at Sundae Sound Studio in Calgary which churned out quite a few indie releases back in the day but is now closed.  It was at one point, owned and operated by the drummer for Chixdiggit.  You can check out the song, Meet You On The Other Side, on You Tube(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDy7DziXTbU).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!

  2. Hi wow this is a blast from the past!
Im John Crassoski the Bass player and song writer for Agatha
My Guitar Player and best friend Russ Snow tragically took his life in 1986, we had many other recordings and we appeared on a Tv show called "One Night Stand" where we made the best of show.
After Russ died I was devastated and did not know what to do and how to go on. I tried to replace him but nobody could play like him, even the best guitar players in Calgary at the time couldnt figure out what he did
He was an amazing song writer guitar player, I literally spent the next 15 years only studying his music and guitar playing and now as a tribute to my friend play in his honor.
I swear I can feel his presence with me at times when I play
I am in the process of writing a book on my life and the many adventures Russ and I had. a must read.
I can be reached at johncpainting@live.com
