Artist: Lori Cullen, Album: Garden Path, Song: Never Could Run Fast

Lori Cullen is a singer songwriter from Toronto.  She released her debut, Garden Path, in 2000 and to date, has six albums.  Her most recent album was released this year and is a collection of cover songs.  Her sound was more folk based for this debut and that is certainly evident on this wonderful song, Never Could Run Fast.  Lori has a very strong voice and her sound has become more jazz influenced since her debut.  In 2007, she received a Juno nomination for Vocal Jazz Album Of The Year with fellow songstress Molly Johnson (see blogs 6/27/10, 2/28/11) but lost out to Diana Krall.  She is playing shows currently in Ontario and you can follow her at http://loricullen.com/.  Unfortunately, her debut album is a difficult find today.  At the time of this blog, there were copies trading on Amazon as high as $100.  You can hear the song, Never Could Run Fast, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gMOW7r6oj0).
