Artist: Mudgirl, Album: First Book, Song: This Day

Kim Bingham hails from Montreal, Quebec.  She made her first impact on the Canadian music scene as part of the ska band, Me Mom & Morgentaler.  They had developed quite an indie reputation before she left and pursued her first solo project as Mudgirl.  She released her one and only EP entitled, First Book, in 1996.  She re-located to Vancouver where the album was produced and the single, This Day, did quite well in Canada.  She had a video for the song which got some decent rotation on Much Music.  Kim would go on to re-invent herself once more as The Kim Band in 2001.  Her sound has been relatively constant though through the band name changes.  She is definitely one of Canada's premier ladies of power pop.  Since The Kim Band, she has worked and toured with Nelly Furtado, David Usher and Bran Van 3000.  She has also developed a successful career composing music for movies and television.  This past year, she announced that she would be touring and recording as Mudgirl once more.  A new album is apparently in the works for release in the coming year.  There are a couple of places to follow Kim (http://www.myspace.com/kimbingham or http://www.myspace.com/mudgirlmusic).  Mudgirl's debut EP, First Book, is available for download on Itunes.  You can hear the song, This Day, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWFC9rWfMpo&feature=feedu).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
