Artist: Brock Zeman, Album: Songs From The Mud, Song: 50 Dollar Bill
"I've got a fifty dollar bill smoking in my pocket. I've got a fifty dollar bill, I'm going out on the town. I've got Jim Beam burning a hole in my stomach. Yeah me and old Jim gonna give 'em hell." Brock Zeman is a singer songwriter from Carleton Place, Ontario. Keith Glass of Prairie Oyster fame (see blog 1/4/11) produced and played on his first few albums, including this one. He released his first album with Keith's label, Audio Valley, in 2003. Songs From The Mud, was his second release in 2004. His sound is alternative country and this track that opens the album called, 50 Dollar Bill, is him at his gritty best. I've seen Brock live twice and both unintentionally. The first was a songwriters in the round solo set at Mariposa and the other was a new talent night at Hughes Room in Toronto. Both times, he was joined by Keith Glass on stage to perform this acoustic track. He plays this tune hard live and has quite a presence. Always the hard working artist, Brock tours constantly and has a number of shows in the Ontario region over the next couple of months. He's released 8 albums to date. The most recent in 2010. He's also started up his own label called, Mud Music. You can follow him at http://www.brockzeman.com/. You can purchase this album on Itunes. You can hear the song, 50 Dollar Bill, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF9B-rlLY4s). Thanks for reading and enjoy!
