Artist: The Novaks, Album: Things Fall Apart, Song: Destroyer

The Novaks are a three piece rock band from St. John's, Newfoundland.  They formed in 2002 and are Mick Davis, Elliot Dicks and Mark Neary.  They released their debut in 2005 and it caught the attention of one, Little Steven, from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Sopranos and Underground Garage Radio Show fame.  He gave one of the tracks off their debut a big time endorsement and decided to distribute the band's album in the U.S. on his Wicked Cool Records label.  The band followed up their debut with this album, Things Fall Apart, in 2009.  The band has won a few regional awards for their releases to date and have toured the country.  They even opened for Kiss in Halifax!  Coincidentally, this track, Destroyer, always makes me think of Kiss.  They have a real throwback rock n' roll sound yet this song adds a bit more beef to the plate.  You can check it out on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yafKWGUuBg).  The band is signed to Sonic Records which is home to other great Canadian artists like Hey Rosetta!, Nathan Wiley (see blog 5/15/11) and Matt Mays.  They have a new EP out and you can follow them at http://www.thenovaks.ca/.  You can purchase the album, Things Fall Apart, on Itunes.  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
