Artist: The Inbreds, Album: Hilario, Song: Granpa's Heater

"It's three in the morning, I believe I'm the only one awake.  In the town the winds are blowing, rolling in straight off the lake.  It's getting kinda cold, gonna step inside.  Gonna crank up the heater that my Grandfather left when he died."  The Inbreds were a rock duo from Halifax by way of Kingston, Ontario.  They were Mike O'Neill and Dave Ullrich.  Mike was the bassist and singer and Dave played drums.  They decided to relocate to Halifax and become part of the "New Seattle" rock explosion that was happening there thanks to the success of bands like Sloan and Eric's Trip.  They released their debut album, Hilario, in 1993.  It was a collection of songs from their previous indie releases.  It caught the attention of Toronto band, The Rheostatics, who invited the band to tour with them.  The band would release four albums before calling it quits in 1998.  They were also signed to a division of Atlantic Records for one of those releases and toured Canada, the U.S. and Europe.  They've shared stages with everyone from the Tragically Hip and Buffalo Tom to the Foo Fighters.  In Canada, they had strong support from college radio and produced videos for their singles which helped their national exposure.  Both guys have gone on to other musical projects in later years.  Ullrich actually started the Canadian Online Music Site, Zunior.com.  They continue to play one off shows from time to time and did record recently for a Rheostatics tribute album.  You can keep tabs on them at http://www.myspace.com/inbredslive.  Granpa's Heater is one of many cool tunes off their debut, Hilario.  You can hear the song on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_4i7YbzjMo).  You can purchase Hilario on Itunes.  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
