Artist: Sinners Parade, Album: Don't Worry Bowta Theng Mister - Compilation of 11 Winnipeg Bands, Song: Rock 'n' Roll
"Don't Worry Bowta Theng Mister" was an indie compilation of various Winnipeg bands released in 1987. The record company was called Cheese Cannon Records and the compilation showcased the work of 11 up and coming bands from the province. The compilation was recorded in two studios, Video Pool and VOX Pop. The latter is owned and operated by Greg Leskiw. Greg has been around the Winnipeg scene for decades playing in bands like the Shags, Guess Who and Kilowatt. He opened his studio as a way of enabling young bands from the area to record and has worked with everyone from the Crash Test Dummies to the New Meanies. On side two of this compilation, Greg also engineered this track, Rock 'n' Roll, by a little known band named, Sinner's Parade. The vocals sound a bit like Matthew Good. I'm not sure if any of the members of this band went on to produce other music or if there was a Sinner's Parade album ever released, but this track is top notch. You can't go wrong with music from Winnipeg. The city has some deep history in rock and roll. I found a vinyl copy of this compilation at one of my favourite record shops in the Junction neighbourhood of Toronto called, Pandemonium. To date, I have not been able to find another copy anywhere. You can hear the song, Rock 'n' Roll, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otd4gK9L4WA). Thanks for reading and enjoy!

Sinners Parade was my favourite Winnipeg punk band, back in the day. Reminded me a little of Husker Du. I'd love to hear more recordings from this band, if they made any. If you have any info or suggestions, please e-mail me at epjanzen [at] gmail [dawt] com.
