Artist: Plumtree, Album: Predicts The Future, Song: Go!

Plumtree were an all girl group from Halifax.  You could describe their sound as pop punk.  They were sisters, Carla and Lynette Gillis, Amanda Braden and Nina Martin.  Nina left the band after their first release to focus on school and was replaced by Catriona Sturton.  The girls met in their early teens while taking music lessons and after their first few gigs in Halifax, attracted the attention of the indie label, Cinnamon Toast Records.  They also gained recognition from their peers like Thrush Hermit, Sloan and Jale which helped them tour across the country.  They released their debut in 1995.  Predicts The Future was their second release in 1997 and the lead off track was this upbeat, shout-fest song called, Go!.  The band would release one more album in 2000 before calling it quits.  Another track on this album, Scott Pilgrim, has become the centrepiece of a new Michael Cera movie and soundtrack called Scott Pilgrim v.s. the World.  More than a decade later, the band appears to be finally emerging from the underground.  The sisters, Carla and Lynette Gillis have new gigs together in bands named, Sister and Bells Clanging.  Both bands have new releases.  The song, Go!, is also available on a Best of Plumtree release.  You can find their entire discography available on Itunes as well as from the band's website, http://www.plumtree.ca/.  You can hear the song, Go!, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeGzDejmOcQ).  As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
