Artist: Kinnie Starr, Album: A Different Day, Song: Another's Gone

Kinnie Starr is a hip hop/alternative/folk/spoken word musician originally from Alberta.  She is of Mohawk/European descent.  She released her debut in 1996 on Island/Def Jam but due to mergers and acquisitions, she opted out of her contract.  She released her 5th album entitled, A Different Day, this past year and the song, Another's Gone, borrows a little something from the Queen hit "Another One Bites The Dust".  It's quite an original though and performed by a very unique artist.  Kinnie is a published author, she has performed with Cirque De Soleil, has visited close to 100 schools in support of arts and literacy and is trilingual.  She is an amazing woman.  Similar to an artist like Lillian Allen, her social activism provides her music with a message at times.  Her poetic delivery is in the form of spoken word, rap or song.  You can follow Kinnie at http://kinniestarr.net/.  You can watch the video for the song, Another's Gone, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvXtCsdJbh8).  As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
