Mitsou is a francophone singer from Quebec. She grew up in a very artistic family and developed both her acting and singing skills at a young age. She signed her first deal with dance label, Isba, in 1988 and released her debut single, Bye Bye Mon Cowboy. The song was huge and propelled by the power of video and of course, her sex appeal; she found success beyond the borders of her home province. Quite amazing considering it was still a french song. I can't even think of another artist in Canada that has been able to accomplish such a feat since. The success of this song led to her debut album in 1989, entitled, El Mundo. The album spawned two more singles that received strong national airplay entitled, "Les Chinois" and "La Corrida". The album garnered Mitsou a Juno nomination for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1990 although she lost out to Alannah Myles. Mitsou has gone on to become a major figure in Quebec media and culture. Be it as an actress, business woman or musician, she has done it all and continues to innovate. She has 3 Juno nominations to her credit as well as 10 releases to date. She also released a new single in 2011. You can follow her at http://www.mitsou.com/. You can watch the original video for Bye Bye Mon Cowboy at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aI0QTEJjIg&feature=relmfu. You can find the song, Bye Bye Mon Cowboy, on a compilation entitled, La Collection, as well. This retrospective release along with the original debut, El Mundo, are both available on Itunes. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
