Redlife were a hip hop duo from Toronto. Redlife is an acronym for "Revealed Experiences with Life in Elevation". They were rappers, Action and Remey. Action also went by the name Kryp2nite. They emerged from the hip hop hotbed of Rexdale in Toronto during the nineties. Like many of their peers, namely, Kardinal Offishall, Ghetto Concept (see blog 11/12/10), Da Grassroots, Citizen Kane and K-OS, they had some of their early singles released on Beat Factory Music compilations. They also used the medium of video to their advantage. Much Music had a daily video show called Rap City which featured one of their earliest releases, Who's Talking Weight. That national exposure certainly helped the band get their music out beyond Toronto. In 1999, they released their one and only full length, Exodus Prt.II on Black Employed Records. The album featured local acts like the Ghetto Concept, Da Grassroots and on this explosive single, Yagga Yaw Yaw, rapper Saukrates. The album, Exodus Prt.II is not widely available today but you can purchase a new copy from Amazon for $10 currently. You can watch the video for the song, Yagga Yaw Yaw, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZIrP0Qc_HU). Thanks for reading and enjoy!
