Artist: Hemingway Corner, Album: Hemingway Corner, Song: Man On A Mission
"I'm a man on a mission, a rain cloud raining, a river that runs to the sea. I'm a road that's winding around the world spinning, turning in eternity. I'm a man on a mission." Hemingway Corner was an American-Canadian duo that met while songwriting for Sony Music. David Martin was from Georgia and Johnny Douglas was a Canadian songwriter living in Nashville. The two started writing and playing together and decided to release their self-titled debut in 1993. It spawned a hit with the song, Man On A Mission, which received some regular airplay on Canadian radio. It also prompted them to hit the road and tour in support of the release. Following that, Johnny decided that touring wasn't his speed and left the band. Hemingway Corner would release another album in 1995 with new members before calling it quits. Both Johnny and David are still active today in the music business. For comparison purposes, I remember at the time of this release, there was a similar sounding American band called the Rembrandts that were all over the radio as well. They, of course, would land the theme song for the ever popular show, Friends. You can watch the video for the uplifting, acoustic, Man On A Mission, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBrqksRFDVA&NR=1). As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio). Thanks for reading and enjoy!
