Jr. Gone Wild were a country rock band with a punk rock attitude from Edmonton, Alberta. They were equal parts classic rock, country and punk. Their early gigs were often punk shows and their name is by definition, a description of those times. This scene was also home to musician, Moe Berg, and his first band, The Modern Minds. Moe would become very popular to most Canadians years later, as the front man for the band, The Pursuit Of Happiness. It was a very tight knit community of artists with many members collaborating with one another. For Jr. Gone Wild, the founder was a man named Mike McDonald and he formed the band in 1983. They wouldn't actually record their first album until 1986 and through numerous line up changes, carved out a discography of 6 albums over a 12 year period. Simple Little Wish was their final album in 1995. I actually featured a cover of a song from this album by Carolyn Mark and NQ Arbuckle in a previous blog (see blog 11/16/10). Carolyn also played on this particular Jr. Gone Wild album. The song, Rain Or Shine, is another great track from this release. You can check out the song on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHcNsSXAf3Q). You can read about Jr. Gone Wild as well as Mike McDonald at http://www.well.com/~sjroby/jgw.html. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
