"Mother Earth is crying tonight, dying right in front of our eyes." Lisa Winn is a singer songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario. She got her start in music as a back up singer during the mid nineties. She actually worked on Gordon Lightfoot's 1999 release, A Painter Passing Through. She has collaborated with artists as diverse as Melissa McClelland and Jakalope. In 2000, she stepped out of the shadows with her debut entitled, Mother Earth. The album was mixed with songs she co-wrote with fellow artist, Rob Lamothe (see blog 3/3/11) as well as covers like the title track, Mother Earth, which was penned by legendary Hamiltonian, Ray Materick (4/16/11). It is a wonderful song that is lifted to new heights with Lisa's strong vocals. You can check out the song on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZMfsruhdQQ). Lisa would end up touring the country as well as Europe in support of this release before going back to the studio for a follow up release in 2003. Today she spends much of her time finding homes for animals held in shelters. You can follow her project at http://ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com/. You can keep tabs on Lisa at http://www.lisawinn.com/. You can purchase the album, Mother Earth, on Itunes. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
