Artist: Fat Man Waving, Album: Parade, Song: Reputation

"Fact is fiction, false is true.  Up's gone sideways and red's gone blue."  Fat Man Waving were a band from Ottawa, Ontario.  They were Rebecca Campbell (see blog 6/4/11), Fred Guignon, Peter Kiesewalter, Ross Murray and James Stephens.  They formed during the late eighties and released their first cassette only release in 1989.  They followed it up in 1991 with their first full length album entitled, Parade.  The album was produced by former Jane Siberry band member and renown producer, John Switzer (Andrew Cash, The Waltons, Laura Repo).  Reputation, is a wonderful upbeat track that was also present on their first cassette only release.  It has a Katrina & The Waves, "Walking On Sunshine", feel to it.  It is also one of the few tunes on the album that was not written by the band.  It was actually penned by another Ottawa area artist by the name of David Bignell (Red Squares, The Lake Effect).  Fat Man Waving toured North America and were eventually signed to Aquarius/EMI Records for their final release in 1995.  Front woman and band leader, Rebecca Campbell, would go on to play with Jane Siberry following the band's demise and has released albums as a solo performer as well as a member of the band, Pork Belly Futures.  You can follow her at http://www.rebeccacampbell.com/.  Parade by Fat Man Waving is a very rare album these days but there were two copies trading on Amazon for $7 at the time of this blog.  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
