Rockhead were a band from British Columbia. They were led by former Payolas and Rock and Hyde (see blog 7/9/11) members, Bob Rock and Chris Taylor. They teamed up with local area musicians, Steven Jack, Jamey Koch and John Webster. The band released their one and only self titled debut in 1992 with EMI Records. Bob had already made a name for himself one year prior as the producer for Metallica's huge self titled "black album". He was also at the production helm for Bon Jovi's Keep The Faith album that same year as well as The Cult's Sonic Temple album three years earlier. But times were changing and Nirvana and Pearl Jam both released their debuts one year earlier, ushering in a new musical trend that destroyed the careers of many metal bands. Perhaps the label felt that with Rock's name already linked to bands like Metallica and Bon Jovi, that Rockhead could ride out this new musical wave like they did. Unfortunately, it didn't happen and the band folded before recording again. This was a good album though and if you like your rock and roll, the lead single, Heartland, is a keeper. You can check out the video for the song on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVb15Ri7HL0). You can purchase the album, Rockhead, on Itunes. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
