David Wall is a composer, multi instrumentalist and songwriter from Toronto. He started out as a member of the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir (see blog 11/3/10) during the eighties. They were a hard working indie band that played across the country until about 1995. It was around the same time that David started experimenting with his own solo recordings. With the help of some friends like Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar) and Keith Whiteley (see Jenny Whiteley blog 7/1/11), he released his debut album in 1993. It featured members of the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir as well as Molly Johnson (see blog 6/27/10). Following the break up of the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, David would involve himself in a few projects that have carried on until this day. He started composing music for t.v. and film and wrote some songs for other artists. One notable tune was Big Sugar's hit, The Scene. He also started a group called The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band which focused on traditional Jewish music. Finally in 2006, he focused his efforts on a sophomore album, The Spell I Was Under. Once again, it featured the talents of Ken Whiteley as well as vocalist Rebecca Campbell (see blog 6/4/11). One of my favourite tracks on this album is his rendition of a traditional song called, Yonder Come Day. You can hear it on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTOLIV06sd8). You can follow David at http://www.davidwall.ca/. You can purchase the album, The Spell I Was Under, on Itunes. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
