Artist: Anyzette, Album: Ebo-Ebo Remix, Song: Njinguele Mbassy

Anyzette was a singer songwriter, born in Cameroon, raised in France and who immigrated to Canada in 1987.  She had already developed a musical persona in France before leaving the country.  She had toured and released her debut album in 1984.  She signed with RCA records after settling in Montreal and released her second album or more appropriately, set of singles.  The first single was Ebo-Ebo which had the song Njinguele Mbassy as the B-side.  The B-side was then released as a single as well.  If you like world beat music, this tune should appeal to you.  Anyzette toured Canada and the U.S. while here and shared the stage with blues guitarist, Albert Collins.  She was the subject of a Radio-Canada documentary as well.  She returned to Europe in the early nineties and resides in Geneva, Switzerland today.  She is still involved in music.  You can follow her at http://www.myspace.com/anyzette.  Canada has a deep and fruitful history of world beat and reggae artists who made this country their home and recorded material while in the country.  Some have stayed permanently and others haven't but all have left their mark on the Canadian musical landscape.  Anyzette's discography is a difficult find today.  At the time of this blog, there was a copy of the Ebo-Ebo remix release with the Njinguele Mbassy b-side on Ebay for $10.  A production duo from France entitled, The Twin Brothers, recently remixed Ebo-Ebo and you can purchase that on Itunes.  You can hear the song, Njinguele Mbassy, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaU41bYenXU).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
