Artist: Boy, Album: Every Page You Turn, Song: Up In This Town

"I don't know why you won't settle down.  I'm moving up in this mess of a town.  I'm moving up in this town."  BOY was initially one lonely guy from Whitehorse, Stephen Noel Kozmeniuk.  He recorded his self titled debut in 2002 with Bumstead Records.  He is a multi instrumentalist and recorded the album in his home.  This collection of catchy pop songs landed him Canadian tour dates with Sam Roberts, 54-40 and the Broken Social Scene.  It also led him to the big smoke (Toronto) where he expanded his act to 5 members and beefed up his sound.  The result was his sophomore release entitled, Every Page You Turn, in 2004.  Despite the larger sound though, BOY doesn't lose any of it's pop appeal or British styling.  Up In This Town is a dirty piece of rock and roll with a real throwback sound.  There doesn't seem to be any recent news on this band.  They changed labels to Maple Music for this last release but don't appear in the current artist list on the label's website.  The universal nature of their name ("Boy") makes searching for them very difficult.  You can purchase the album on Itunes though.  You can also watch the video for the song, Up In This Town, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUxk0Q0vaco).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
