Artist: Blurtonia, Album: Adventures In The Kingdom Of Blurtonia, Song: Never Less Than Perfect
Blurtonia was the genius of indie rock legend, Ian Blurton, from Toronto. Within Ian's career trajectory, Blurtonia existed after his time with Change of Heart and before his current band, C'Mon. Ian's been around the Toronto scene for almost 3 decades I figure. He's played with the Cowboy Junkies and Scott B. Sympathy. He's also developed an impressive list of production credits during that time as well. Ian's got a bit of a throwback sound to his music. Sloan might be a good comparison, especially with regards to this particular track, Never Less Than Perfect. It's good time rock and roll with a little trash thrown in. Adventures In The Kingdom Of Blurtonia was their debut album in 1999. The band would go through some personnel changes and at one time included Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene). They would release one final album in 2001 with Grenadine Records before calling it quits. Ian has since released a solo album called Happy Endings and a slew of releases with C'Mon. You can follow him at http://www.myspace.com/sirianblurton or http://www.thisiscmon.com/. Sir Ian is criminally under appreciated and completely under the radar to most Canadians. Those that are aware of him, are rabid for his work though. The album, Adventures In The Kingdom Of Blurtonia, can be purchased at Maple Music. You can hear the track, Never Less Than Perfect, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWEjn9UTJIU). As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio). Thanks for reading and enjoy!
